Very well-executed, if ungainly. Reminds me of the Centurion F-series conversions and Centurion vans.

I picked a fine time to not be able to read Portuguese.

I really like that thing. It's as though no one cared what it looked like, just so long as it was functional.

That is pretty weird. Almost like a 2dr sedan Bronco.

My work place was visited couple of months ago by weird Brazilian made Dakota Quad Cab with (original) VM Motori 2.5l diesel engine. I didn't even know that those existed.

I can tell you it has "Three individual bucket seats." That is all.

Depending where in Brazil you are, those still very common to see around.

During the 70s and 80s this kind of modification was prefered instead of buying a sedan as luxury car.

And they are still being made:

Tropicabines! Yet another vehicle variation we don't get in the US....unless you count the Avalanche and it's other variations across manufacturers...

Whoa. It's like the original Avalanche, but with more useful looking proportions.

Exactly what I though, did you see the modern versions that gbbts posted a link to? Apparently they're pretty popular in South America:

These modified Ford trucks are very common in Brazil. And Tropical Cabines has been the leader of this business since I'm aware of myself. At least where I come from.

The market of actually capable SUVs/Double Cab/Crew Cab trucks here in Brazil had a big hole, especially in the 70's until the mid 90's because importing cars was forbidden. There was the Toyota Bandeirante (aka Land Cruiser FJ40), the Chevy Veraneio (loosely based on the Suburban, but didn't have 4x4) and Ford had the F1000 (aka 6th, 7th and 8th gen F-150), which was modified by Tropical.

Most places didn't have actual roads, and people still depended on 4x4s to get to places in many situations. So, if you had money and wanted to go to places you had not really a choice on what to buy, and guys like the Tropical did an excellent job. And the F1000s were more luxurious, comfortable and more powerful from the start, also excellent work horses and looked awesome (compared to the FJ40 and the dated Chevy). So, these Tropical ones were the luxurious option for the rich farmer to haul hay, goats, bricks and eventual kids around in comfort.

I came from a very rural part of Brazil, and there was a waiting line in Tropical Cabines to get your truck double cab'd. One of my dream cars as a kid was a Tropical F1000 with the turbo 4.9 I6 they used to put in them.
